"You'll Never Get Married If..."

The lady in this photograph got married yesterday. She is 46 years old. Her husband is a very normal looking Scots civil servant in his 60s. He has no piercings.

I've seen this lady dozens of times on my way down Edinburgh's Royal Mile. She's a fixture, selling jewellery and posing for photographs with tourists.

Discuss in the combox. Kindly, though. From everything I've ever heard or seen, she's a nice lady.

Update: May I just get the ball rolling by pointing out that she is at least 15 years younger than he is. The more I see of life, the more I think men think women 15 years younger than they, no matter how kooky, are simply adorable.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

I think she is beautiful, in a strange way. Beauty is very meterious. Sometimes we can't see each other's beauty, other times we recieve little revelations where we glimpse something in an unexpected place that reminds us of God. I have noticed that eyes and minds of people who become addicted to only the most obvious or narrow dfenitions of beauty, pre-provided by dated or cultural whims, are less likely to see the beauty if it is not already spelled out for them. I also believe that every single person has a chance to attain true beauty.

Hehehehe, your update made me smile, as I have a bit of a crush on a friend who is 14 years older than me. Nothing will probably come of it, but I do think he thinks of me as "simply adorable" judging by the way he shakes his head and laughs at some of the kooky things *I* do.

And I think the picture of the couple posted on the website you linked to is rather sweet-looking. I hope they're happy together.

My notion of civil servants just improved, that's for sure!

It just goes to show you that, though there are no guarantees in life, that does not mean that there is no hope!

Good for them and good for finding beauty in each other. :) My mom has said, "There's a lid for every pot."

Hrmm... maybe I have a chip on my shoulder, but I don't think I'd want a guy to think I'm young, cute, and adorable just because of my age. It seems kinda condescending to me. Of course you should think your partner is adorable, but I guess big age gaps aren't my thing.

IMO, 14 yrs is a huge gap. I'd hate to be found cute, by someone who'd be old enough to be my uncle...Much less harbor thoughts of marrying them.
I really do think pairings are much of an exception rather than a rule. Or maybe I've deeply drunk from the cup of cynicism.

I agree about the 14 year age gap. That was the gap between Charles and Diana, and all my friends and I agree there was something creepy about that.

Of course, if she had been 25 and he 39, that would be less creepy than 33 and 19(!).
